Posted on April 18, 2012 in Corporate Events | No Comments

The SDSU Rodeo Club held their annual Jackrabbit Stampede last week at the Swiftel Center in Brookings SD to a HUGE crowd each night. The cowboys and cowgirls showcased their riding and roping for school and personal pride.

What a great night

Huge Setup for a HUGE Rodeo Party

We at Pinnacle Productions have worked with the SDSU Rodeo Club for each of the last 3 years to provide an awesome dance experience for these athletes and their friends! From early on the dance floor was full and the requests were non stop! From country to rock and roll and even some awesome top 40 and hip hop, the music was pumpin’!

We used a massive sound system and great lighting and music videos to engage dancers and spectators as well. When the dust settled they were begging for more!! But until next time, the memories will have to suffice!

Thanks again to everyone at the Swiftel Center for the hospitality and thank you for allowing us the honor to work with the awesome folks in the SDSU Rodeo Club!

The evening began with social hour followed by a great dinner featuring Prime Rib or Chicken with the students and their guests. Following the dinner Mr. Krause presented the John Wesley Jackson Award given each year to the “Best Faculty Member” as voted on by the students. This year’s recipient was given to Professor Roger Baron who gave a well delivered message about the hard work the students had put in and about the professors savvy to teach the students how to teach themselves law.

WIth the formal portion of the evening concluded the students were ready to put their dancing shoes on! From the early goings the dance floor was alive! First request of the night went out to Max, who requested the Miley Cyrus songs “Party in the USA” will go unnamed but the dancing didn’t go unnoticed!

All in all a great night was had by everyone in attendance and the party raved until midnight when they had to kick us out! From slow songs, old school, rock, and even some crazy club tunes this night was absolutely a blast!

We would personally like to thank Jason, Matthew, Matt, Steve, Mallory, and the rest of the law students for allowing us to entertain you all for an unforgettable night with some amazing people! Thanks again for choosing Pinnacle Productions Lighting and Sound Design!

Recently we here at Pinnacle were asked to help an exceptional group of high school students plan their annual statewide convention at the Holiday Inn in Sioux Falls. This organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe, Deca.

For over 60 years DECA has reached tens of millions of students help develop skills necessary for post secondary education that translates well into the workforce and promotes outstanding leadership abilities as well.

Lighting and Video for a Great Organization

At the state convention the members were judged in several categories and compete for a spot in Salt Lake City at the Deca National Convention. Keynote speaker Leona Tran addressed the students and described how a 20 year old used the lessons she learned in Deca and the relationships built to follow her dream of publishing her very own online fashion magazine.

We worked with the local deca organization to integrate video, audio, and lighting design to help make their awards banquet something they will never forget. We were honored to work with this years officers and their advisor to help make this event something memorable for the students and we wish the finalists all the best at Nationals!

The dangers of hiring a “Cheap” Dj

Posted on February 29, 2012 in Corporate Events, Lighting, Teen Dances, Wedding Dance | No Comments

Your event is obviously important to you and those around you. Your’ve been cautious in planning the event around dates and potential conflicts. You’ve got the flowers, the venue, the photographer and you’ve taken painstaking detail to make sure the event reflects all things important to you and your event. Now who do you hire for entertainment?

There are entertainment choices from acoustic musicians, orchestra, live bands, comedians, and much more. More often then not you will be choosing between one of MANY local mobile entertainment companies to provide Disc Jockey services. In reality it’s a very wise choice as most dj’s are able to play music from a very large area, don’t take breaks, and in many cases are very talented emcees as well.

If you do indeed want to choose a dj for your event, where do you start? At last look (according to Google) there are no fewer than 30 yes THIRTY dj’s here in the greater Sioux Falls area. How in the world do you narrow your decision? Everyone is AWESOME. Everyone has a HUGE music library. EVERYONE is going to tell you that they are you’re best bet. I realize in this day and age, and by the intended sarcastic tone, that things aren’t always as they seem.

What’s the answer? Do some homework! Talk to other event professionals about who they recommend and what service providers they respect. What about price? I know some dj’s in the local market that average a $1500 or more for their services and some for $500. What’s the difference? PLENTY! True professionals charge what professionals charge and they do so for good reason. Some dj’s are overpriced at the lower end of the spectrum. Professionals attend conferences, educational seminars, emcee workshops to hone their craft and deserve the rates they earn.

Think about this when you are looking for entertainment for your next event. What is it worth to have a great entertainer at your event? What is entertainment “Worth”? What’s it worth if they do a great job and do everything goes great? What’s it worth if they are late? What’s it worth if they dont show up at all? You’ve spent all this time, energy, and money to make this event COUNT! If your guests don’t stay around to enjoy the evening because of a lackluster entertainment choice, or one who’s MIA, it’s all for naught.

Cheap entertainment is seldom great. Great entertainment is seldom cheap.
